Purpose: Provide an overview and understanding of the safety leadership ethos, HeroCODE. In this course, participants will:

  • Understand the HeroCODE: Learn the fundamental principles that drive exceptional safety performance.
  • Embody the CODE Elements: Explore how to integrate Courage to Act, Own the Challenge, Demonstrate Passion, and Engage Respectfully into daily work.
  • Identify and Amplify Weak Signals: Develop the crucial skill of recognising subtle indicators of potential risks before they escalate.

This course empowers all team members in any industry where safety is critical to build a resilient and high-quality workplace culture.

Time commitment: 30 minutes.

Purpose: HeroCODE Tactics: HeroCODE Tactics is designed for team members in any industry where safety is critical to building quality workplace cultures. It focuses on operationalising the principles of the HeroCODE, providing practical leadership tools for daily application.

  • Build High Reliability Teams: Develop the skills necessary to foster dependable and safe team performance.
  • Apply HeroCODE principles in practice: Translate theoretical knowledge into actionable safety leadership behaviors.
  • Transform your approach to safety: Elevate your contribution to a high-reliability culture.
  • Gain a set of six operational safety leadership tools that become a common language for working effectively within high-risk and complex environments.

Time commitment: Approx. 1 hour.

Purpose: The HeroCODE Safety Leadership Playbook is for people in any industry where safety is critical to building quality workplace cultures through psychological safety. Over a four-week period, this course focuses on operationalising HeroCODE principles by building rapport and values alignment, diversifying your leadership toolkit. Participants will cover the following modules:

  • The HeroCODE Leader: Understanding the role of a HeroCODE leader.
  • PEAK Performance: Strategies for achieving peak performance in safety.
  • Building Rapport: Techniques for fostering trust and connection within teams.
  • Values Alignment: Aligning individual and team risk tolerance.
  • 21-day Action Learning Journal: A practical tool for applying and reflecting on learned concepts.

Target Audience: Team Leaders, Supervisors, Managers.

Medium: Self-paced eLearning modules.

Time commitment: Approx. 45 minutes per week, over 4 weeks.

Applied Pathway

Purpose: The HeroCODE Leader Program builds on the HeroCODE Playbook by integrating weekly group sensemaking sessions.
These sessions provide a safe environment to challenge knowledge and assumptions, fostering a deeper understanding of safety leadership in practice.
Through this program, participants will:

  • Foster a deeper understanding: Challenge assumptions and build a more robust grasp of safety principles and their application.
  • Advance leadership skills: Elevate their ability to lead effectively in complex safety environments.
  • Engage in collective sensemaking: Participate in facilitated discussions to gain new perspectives and clarify understanding.

Target Audience: Team Leaders, Supervisors, Managers.

Medium: Blended learning – self-paced eLearning and virtual sensemaking sessions. 

Time commitment: Approx. 45 minutes of self-paced eLearning, and 45 minutes of virtual sensemaking, per week over 4 weeks.

Purpose: The Weak Signals Masterclass teaches participants about weak signals and their importance in safety.
The workshop provides ample opportunity to not only learn what a weak signal is, but also how to implement a strategy for amplifying them using the six operational tactics.
Through this masterclass, participants will:

  • Implement practical strategies: Develop the ability to integrate weak signal amplification into daily safety practices
  • Understand weak signals: Grasp the concept and significance of subtle indicators of potential risk.
  • Practice amplification strategies: Learn and apply the six operational tactics to effectively amplify weak signals.

Target Audience: Workforce.

Medium: Face to face experiential learning workshop.

Time commitment: 3 hours.

Purpose: The HeroCODE Coaches Masterclass is designed to equip coaches with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to effectively assist teams in applying learned HeroCODE skills to workplace practice.
Unlike traditional masterclasses, this program is highly experiential, focusing on practical application and real-world coaching scenarios.
Through this masterclass, coaches will:

  • Facilitate practical application: Help teams translate learned skills into daily workplace practice, drawing from an experiential learning approach.
  • Identify key team behaviors: Learn what to observe in teams operating within the work environment.
  • Develop coaching expertise: Gain the abilities needed to guide and support teams in implementing HeroCODE principles through hands-on practice.

Target Audience: Selected coaches.

Medium: Face to face experiential learning masterclass.
